FAQs

TESTIMONIALS

Q  How is RubberBond different compared to traditional poured-in-place?

A    Unlike traditional poured-in-place RubberBond utilizes a uniquely compacted loose-fill rubber under layer combined with a full 1.5 inch thick poured-in-place top layer.

Q  Why should I consider using RubberBond?

A    Our loose fill under layer provides superior shock absorption with HIC numbers under 400 at 12

feet.  This level of safety performance is not possible with traditional poured systems.  Our top layer is made with recycled SBR rubber which is significantly stronger than EPDM.  At 1.5 inches thick, our top layer is three times thicker than traditional poured systems translating into better wear characteristics and a longer life span.

Q  How thick is RubberBond?

A   RubberBond is 5 inches thick consisting of a 3.5 inch cushion layer and a 1.5 inch top layer.

Q  What are the maintenance requirements?

A    Routine maintenance is not required.  Since RubberBond is made with a pigmented urethane to achieve colour, some fading will occur over time.  A color rejuvenating coating may be considered

after 5-6 years of use.

Q  How does pricing compare to traditional poured systems?

A   Due to the high recycled content, efficient installation process, and versatile sub-surface preparation requirements, RubberBond is generally more cost-effective compared to traditional poured-in-place.

When our playground project became delayed to the point that the weather became too cold to complete our poured rubber surface, we were able to install the base layer of rubber bond allowing the playground to open for the ribbon cutting and throughout the remainder of the season.  The following spring the technicians simply came in and applied the top portion over the existing base layer to complete the project.  To date, our super-soft RubberBond surface has performed to expectation in every way.
